Suffolk Zone Winners Announced for 2025-2026 School Year

The Comsewogue Athletics Department is proud to announce Grace Peyman and Daniel Cappiello as the 2026 Suffolk Zone Award Winners. The Suffolk Zone Award is given to one male and one female student at each high school in Suffolk County each school year for exemplifying outstanding athletic and academic performance in their Physical Education classes.

Grace Peyman, a New York State Scholar Athlete, is a captain of the Varsity Field Hockey team and Varsity Flag Football team, and also was a member of the Varsity Girls Basketball team. She is part of the Athletes Helping Athletes group and has contributed to the Morgan’s Message initiative for eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health for student-athletes. Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Italian Honor Society and Tri-M Honor Society. Her favorite physical education moment has been participating in the annual volleyball tournament , citing its fun and competitiveness. She will be attending James Madison University in the fall and will be participating in club field hockey.

Daniel Cappiello, another New York State Scholar Athlete, is a captain of the Varsity Football team and also runs indoor track and field during the winter season. Daniel is an eagle scout and a member of both the National Honor Society and Italian Honor Society. His favorite part of Physical Education during his high school career has been competing in school-wide tournaments and championships that help to bring the Comsewogue school spirit. A core memory was playing in the volleyball championship game in front of the entire school. He will be attending SUNY Cortland pursuing a health and physical education degree this fall with the hopes of being a member of the football team.
