Comsewogue Earns CareerViewXR Grant for VR Tech

Posted Date: 5/19/25 (:49 AM)

The Comsewogue School District is proud to announce its selection as a runner-up in the prestigious CareerViewXR 2025 Production Grant program. CareerViewXR, a leading platform in immersive career exploration, has awarded Comsewogue with a 12-month subscription for up to 1,000 students, along with an HTC VIVE virtual reality headset to support virtual career readiness initiatives.

Following a competitive application and interview process, Comsewogue was selected as one of just eight schools nationwide to be recognized by this year’s program. Comsewogue was chosen for demonstrating a commitment to innovative career literacy and workforce development for students.

"We are excited to be recognized as a runner-up for the CareerView XR grant,” said District Administrator for Instructional Technology Dr. Don Heberer. “This award will allow us to introduce cutting-edge mixed reality technology into our career exploration initiatives. Coupled with our newly aligned CTE curriculum, these interactive headsets will provide students with an engaging and innovative way to discover future career possibilities without leaving the classroom."

CareerViewXR began offering its production grant last year to help provide students with access to immersive career exploration opportunities. CareerViewXR and its industry partners offer a variety of virtual field trips for students to immerse themselves in numerous careers across the country, including lobster fishing, paleontology, occupational therapy, welding and more.

“Educators, employers, and students have made it clear that there's an unmet need to bring career exploration to life in a more immersive, student-centered way,” said CareerViewXR CEO and Co-founder Matthew Chaussee. “This initiative continues to prove that when schools and local businesses come together, the impact on students is transformative. We’re excited to capture and share these new stories, in partnership with this year’s awardees, to create meaningful connections across their geographies, while simultaneously benefiting students across the country.”
